Do you speak in public to promote your business?  What would be the worst thing that could happen to you?  Someone arguing with you? Someone heckling?  People walking out?

I quite often get asked and invited to speak around the country about horse bits as part of my other business, Bit Bank Australia.  After presenting on the national stage at Equitana last year to a room that was standing room only (they even had to turn people away the room was so full) to presenting last weekend at a local event to just two people… wow, I could have really taken this badly.  I could have blamed it on the fact that the event I was speaking at was charging entry where last year it was free.  I could have blamed it on the fact that super stars like my hero Lucinda Green were presenting at the same time.  I could have blamed it on the ridiculously hot weather.  Find out here what I really took away from the non- event:

Where have you learned the hard way, with embarrassing results, about taking responsibility in your business?  Let me know in the comments below.

I've come to small business the long way round- but enjoyed and learned from every single step. I learned about the power of Media during a BA and while working in Film&TV. I learned about the hard graft while groom for an international eventer in the UK. I learned organisation and staff management from running hundreds of weddings both here and in the UK. I learned from the mistakes of my first business that failed, to create an e-commerce success story, and now I'm here to help you have even greater success in your business. Oh, and I dance to really loud music like a crazy bastard.
