Tithing

I know you help people every day.  We have our immediate circle, family, friends and and our clients. We do what ever it takes to help them out, to help them grow and be the best version of themselves.  That’s human nature, isn’t it?  To want to make things better for other people.

We are all in our businesses to create a better life for us and for the others around us. We want to build a better life for our families, and we want to help our clients and their pets and horses have a better life as well.

If you are an educator or a therapist, you want the very best for your clients, both 2 legged and 4.

If you are selling products or goods, feed or supplements, I know that you again believe that your products are the very best available to help you clients.

The privilege of being able to create your ideal business, of being a leader in your field also means you have a social responsibility.

Step back and take a look around you. While your immediate world may seem small, you are a part of the bigger picture. You’re a direct influence in creating a better life for many people around you, and that includes those further away.

You may have heard of the concept of tithing. It’s where you give away a percentage of everything you make to a charity that you support.

It’s not a marketing exercise.

It’s not something to brag about.

It’s something you do because it’s the right thing to do.

I know you will want to help an animal charity- that’s our first love after all. Just consider this: we wouldn’t need those animal charities at all if we looked after the people first.

So here’s my challenge to you. If you have not already, choose a cause that you want to support, something bigger than you, bigger than the industry you work in now. Something socially responsible that really is for the greater good. Start making periodic payments, however small, to support that cause and help the people who need it most.

Maybe it will be to feed the homeless.

Maybe it will be to provide medical treatment in far off lands.

Maybe it will be helping fund reading programs in outback Australia.

I’m not going to tell you which organisations I support. This isn’t about that.

This is about you, about contribution and about making the whole world a better place.

You guys are awesome. Now it’s time to make the world a little bit more awesomer.

I've come to small business the long way round- but enjoyed and learned from every single step. I learned about the power of Media during a BA and while working in Film&TV. I learned about the hard graft while groom for an international eventer in the UK. I learned organisation and staff management from running hundreds of weddings both here and in the UK. I learned from the mistakes of my first business that failed, to create an e-commerce success story, and now I'm here to help you have even greater success in your business. Oh, and I dance to really loud music like a crazy bastard.
